Weekly NFL Trend Pick
The Titans (8-0 SU,
7-1 ATS) are ugly, but keep rolling along! They won 19-16 in OT over Green Bay.
Tennessee’s offense is 21st overall (4th in rushing with 149 yds rushing per
game), 29th in passing, while the defense is outstanding, ranked 7th overall.
The red zone defense is dynamite: They allow 12.9 points per game, tops in the
NFL. 35-year old QB Kerry Collins will be 36 next month and has not dazzled,
with 56% completions, 3 TDs, 3 INTs, 1,236 yards, but is a fine game manager.
The running game is deep with rookie RB Chris Johnson (East Carolina, first
round) has 715 yards, 4.9 ypc, and RB LenDale White (404 yards, 4.1 ypc). The
dominant defense has tackle Albert Haynesworth (6 sacks) up front and LB Keith
Bullock. DE Kyle Vanden Bosch (3 sacks; 12 sacks in 2007) is battling a sore
groin and has had an off year. They’ve beaten the Jaguars by 7, and the
Ravens and Packers by 3. Tennessee is 4-4 Over/Under this season, 14-9-1 under
the total the last 24 games. The Bears (5-3 SU, 4-3-1 ATS) are in first place in
the NFC North. Last week they won 27-23 over the Lions and have a big divisional
game on deck at the Packers. The run defense is 5th allowing 81.8 yards rushing
per game, but the pass defense is 30th allowing 247 yds per game. 25-year old QB
Kyle Orton (10 TDs, 4 INTs) has a right ankle injury and will miss at least a
month with a high ankle sprain. QB Rex Grossman (1 TD, 1 pick, 58 yards)
stepped in for the injured Orton Sunday and help them rally to a 27-23 win over
the pitiful Lions. Grossman was up and down and all over the place. He completed
9 of 19 passes for 58 yards, a touchdown, an interception and a puny 49.9
quarterback rating. It was his first game all season. Rookie RB Matt Forte leads
in rushing with 364 yards, though just 3.8 ypc, and the wideouts are not that
impressive with WR Rashied Davis (27, 318 yds, 2 TDs), WR Marty Booker and TE
Greg Olsen (24, 306). The defense has allowed over 20 points in 6 of the last 7
games (4-2-1 over the total). Free safety Mike Brown couldn't finish the half
because of an injured right calf. The Bears are 3-1 SU, 2-2 ATS at home and
this is their 3rd straight home game. The correct football
pick here is the Titans. Get our guaranteed NFL
